Liz de Rome is a psychologist and consultant with substantial experience in community education and social change programs. She has worked on a range of road safety projects at the State and Local Government level.
She has been active in the development of recent motorcycle safety initiatives including the research and development of Positioned for Safety, a motorcycle road safety strategic plan for the Motorcycle Council of NSW (MCC) and the development of the MCC motorcycle road safety web site. Her latest project has been research into motorcycle protective clothing. Funded by the Motor Accidents Authority of NSW, the results of her research are published as web based consumer guides to motorcycle protective clothing. MCC survey of motorcyclists in NSW, 2001 (200K .pdf) A report prepared by Liz de Rome, Guy Stanford and Brian Wood for the Motorcycle Council of NSW, June 2002. The Motorcycle Council of NSW conducted a survey of 796 motorcyclists in NSW in October/ November 2001. The purpose of the survey was to identify the best means of communicating with motorcyclists and to obtain information on issues associated with crash experience, training and protective clothing. A summary of the findings of the survey were reported at a Motorcycle Safety seminar for the Motor Accident Authority of NSW on Wednesday June 19, 2002.
